The wine estate
Keeping it in the family
The passion for wine
1939
In 1939, Georges Gauthier harvested his first vintage in the vineyards of Saint Hilaire de Clisson.
He was a farmer with just a few hectares of vines, but he applied what he knew and produced some very good wines. In the early 1960s, he handed down his passion to his son, also called Georges Gauthier, who began selling their wines at the cellar door along with his wife Madeleine.
1986
the third generation took over, with Christian Gauthier, the grandson of the estate’s founder. Christian only handled the vinegrowing part of the business, then gradually expanded the area under vine and built a new cellar. His wife Monique joined him at the end of 1997.
2020
Finally, the fourth generation arrived, with Christian and Monique’s two children joining the business: Florent in 2020, and Geoffroy in 2021. The family’s winemaking tradition goes on.
